Singapore, 14 April 2014 - Nucleus Connect Pte Ltd (Nucleus Connect), Singapore’s Next Gen NBN Operating Company (OpCo), has announced at its Annual General Meeting today the retirement of Mr Ernest Wong as its Board Chairman. Mr Paul Ma will succeed Mr Wong as the Chairman of Nucleus Connect with effect from today.

StarHub Chairman, Mr Tan Guong Ching, said, “The StarHub Board thanks Ernest for his leadership of our subsidiary Nucleus Connect. He has brought Nucleus Connect from launch to a company that is the preferred choice of 25 Retail Service Providers today. Nucleus Connect has a firm foundation and it is well prepared to take on the fast increasing demand for fibre broadband in Singapore.”

“It is an honour to help shape and lead Singapore’s official Next Gen NBN OpCo in its formative years. It is fulfilling to see Nucleus Connect’s growth in the past four years, and I’m proud of how the committed and dynamic team has forged ahead despite early challenges,” said Mr Wong. “Paul was with me from Day One of the formation of the Nucleus Connect Board, and I have full confidence that he will continue the good work we have done for Nucleus Connect and steer it to greater heights.”

Both Mr Wong and Mr Ma are founding members of Nucleus Connect’s Board when the StarHub wholly-owned subsidiary was set up in November 2009. Mr Ma will continue his appointment as Independent Director of Nucleus Connect, concurrently with his new Chairman role.
